Safety

Establishing safety is an essential part of the healing process. It’s second only to basic needs like food and shelter on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

It can feel impossible to make progress and heal while you’re feeling unsafe and the brain remains in survival mode.

When you lack a sense of safety the path forward often is an outside perspective and powerful tools.

I can help you do that!

Connection

Mind, Body, and Spirit

and Others

Connection is about establishing meaningful relationships with others, which can provide support, validation, and a sense of belonging. Connection also refers to the relationship we have with ourselves – our mind, body, and spirit. It's about understanding and honoring our needs, desires, thoughts, and emotions. It's about being in tune with our bodies, recognizing its signals, and taking care of our physical health. It's about nurturing our spirit, engaging in activities that bring joy, peace, and fulfillment. Connection is a fundamental part of returning to safety as it fosters a sense of wholeness.

Agency

Reclaiming our agency is a powerful step in returning to safety. This involves understanding that we have the inherent power and freedom to make decisions for ourselves.

It's about taking control of our lives, making choices that align with our values and aspirations. Having agency also means taking ownership and recognizing that we have the power to change our experience. It's a liberating realization that empowers us to steer our lives in the direction we desire.

Truth

While we are in the middle of challenges it can be hard to see things objectively. We end up believing what our brain tells us that may not be true.

Self-compassion is a skill that helps us acknowledge our feelings and emotions without judgement. It allows us to access truth in a safe way.

Often, we tend to be our worst critics, but self-compassion encourages us to be kind to ourselves. It's about understanding that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather a testament to our humanity.

Self-compassion provides the validation we need to start healing and moving forward with a more accurate understanding.
